Decorations

As we have mentioned, all of these resources could work really well as party decorations or for dressing up your home at Halloween time. They’re a great way to really get into the Halloween season and enjoy it as much as you can.

They would also be great to display in your classroom, especially if you like decorating according to themes and the seasons. You could display some as posters, and others as smaller decorative items. An even better idea would be to get the kids involved in this too as a creative class activity!

Lastly, they’d also be great for trick or treating. Either incorporate them as part of your Halloween costume, or display them visibly in your house so that people who are trick or treating know they can visit your home.

Halloween Bookmarks Project

For a more crafty project idea, why not try out making Halloween bookmarks?

This would be a really fun way to turn some of your favorite Halloween characters into bookmarks, or just to design something fun with some of the Halloween object cut outs.

You’ll need:

  • Cardstock paper
  • Your Halloween printables (likely printed in a smaller size to fit the desired size of bookmark)
  • Scissors, to cut out the printables
  • Glue
Optional: pens or pencils, glitter, other items for decorating

First, take a piece of cardstock and cut it out to be the desired size of the bookmark.

Second, gather the items to decorate the bookmark. For example, you may have printed the witch character, and a number of relevant objects like a broomstick and a bubbling cauldron. Make sure these are an appropriate size, and that they’re cut out.

Then, glue them onto the bookmark to create your final design! You have real freedom here – you can write words, draw pictures, and even add other things like glitter, or whatever you would like to add.

As an optional last step, you could also laminate the bookmark to make it last much longer. Whether you should do this also depends on the materials you used to decorate, so keep this in mind.

Hanging Bats Decoration Project

For a really fun and striking decoration for your next Halloween party, why not try making a hanging bats decoration?

You will need:

  • The printable black silhouette of a bat object cut outs
  • Scissors
  • Black string or thread (or ribbon for more polished look)
  • A stick, embroidery hoop or wire coat hanger (to hang the bats from)

1. First print out your bat silhouette images. For extra durability, you could even print it on cardstock. Then cut them out.
2. Then, make holes in the objects you have printed. Do this with the scissors, or if you have one, a hole punch. If using scissors, adult supervision is recommended.
3. Then cut your string/thread/ribbon to the desired length and tie one end securely through the hole in the bat. When you have done so, you could even play around with the bats, folding some of them to make a more realistic representation of the bats.
4. Then prepare your chosen hanger base. A stick gives a more rustic look, an embroidery hoop gives a circular effect, and a wire coat hanger can be bent into different shapes.
5. Tie each end of the bat’s string to the hanging base so they hang freely.
6. Lastly, add a hanging loop to your base. Get another piece of string or ribbon, and tie it so it creates a loop from your hanger.
7. Then you’re finished! Hang it wherever you desire, and watch your bats flutter around in the breeze.

You could even decorate the bats before you stick them on to make it more fun for kids.

Plus, it doesn’t even have to be with the bat images – you could use any of the printables we’re sharing with you today, or a combination of them too!
