Make the Christmas Quiz Fun
Quizzes don’t have to be serious – especially at Christmas. With a sprinkling of festive magic, a dash of laughter, and a jingle bell or two, you can turn your Christmas quiz into the highlight of the holiday season.
Packed with 10 rounds of merry questions, it’s already a sleigh load of fun. But why stop there? With a few creative twists, you can turn your quiz into something magical!
Festive Dress Up Challenge
If there’s one thing kids love, it’s the chance to get into character! And nothing says Christmas spirit quite like getting on your Santa hat or Reindeer antlers!
Instructions:
- Announce a “Dress Like Christmas” theme before you plan to do your quiz
- Encourage kids (and adults) to wear something festive – a Santa hat, an Elf costume, sparkly jumper or maybe one of our Christmas printables pinned to their shirt!
- Award bonus points for a small prize for the most Christmassy outfit.
Mini Challenges Between Rounds
Sometimes even the most hardworking elves need a break from answering questions and that’s where mini challenges between rounds come in. They’re short, silly brain breaks that aim to keep energy levels high and add a sprinkle of laughter and joy.
Instructions:
- Before the quiz, prepare a set of challenges on paper or card. Some good examples are – sing one line of a Christmas carol, Christmas Charades and guess the mystery Christmas sound (like jingle bells or wrapping paper being torn)
- After each quiz round, invite one of the children up to draw a challenge card and invite the whole group to join in.
- Give bonus points or small prizes for participation!
Team Play With Festive Names
Quizzes are much more fun when playing in a team! One great way to add to the fun of our festive themed printable quizzes is to divide kids into teams and let them pick their festive team names! Write each team’s name on the board so they can see how they’re doing after each round and encourage teams to cheer for each other and celebrate correct answers – after all it’s the season of spreading cheer!
Elf Points for Enthusiasm
Not every child is great at quizzes, but everyone can join in the festive fun. Awarding bonus points for enthusiasm, creativity, or even the best silly answer keeps the game inclusive and more fun!
Create a special “Elf Points” system alongside regular scoring and award points as the game progresses. At the end tally the Elf points separately and give a small prize or certificate to the most enthusiastic elves! This way if a team doesn’t score top of the leaderboard they still feel like winners and that’s exactly what the Christmas spirit is all about!
Pass the Present Bonus Round
Kids love surprises and adding in a high energy bonus round is a great way to keep them on the edge of their seats!
Instructions:
- Wrap a small prize (like a chocolate coin, sticker, or pencil) in several layers of wrapping paper.
- Play some Christmas music while the present is passed around the group.
- When the music stops, the child holding the present gets to peel off one layer.
- After a few rounds, the final layer reveals the prize! You can tie this into the quiz by letting the winner’s team earn bonus points.
